Role of Member Representatives
Member Representatives will be appointed by the Executive Committee. In selecting Member Representatives the committee will seek people who are public spirited; well-known (with a significant status on the amateur theatre scene for their area); diplomatic; generally supportive of the SFD’s aims but not afraid to be critical of the Fellowship; and prepared to represent the views of member groups in their part of Somerset. They will serve for a 3-year term. Areas will be based on four divisions of our region nominally North, South, East and West, the boundaries to be determined by the Executive Committee.
The key responsibilities of Member Representatives are:
1. To act as a link between members and the committee by making regular contact with member societies and representing members’ interests on the committee.
2. To promote the Fellowship by representing the SFD’s interests: attending performances when possible, offering to meet member groups and present SFD activities, promoting training, competitions, the County Drama Festival and the other services offered by the SFD.
3. To assist in SFD activities within the division including the collection of competition trophies.
4. Promoting the Fellowship to non-member amateur drama groups and outlining the benefits of SFD membership.
